2021 NFL Draft: Vikings mock draft Rounds 6 & 7

A conventional compliment to fellow defensive tackle selection Darius Stills, Texas A&M’s Bobby Brown III is a well-built 325-pound defensive tackle who fits all of the criteria of a trademark early-down nose tackle.

Strong enough to hold his stance off of the snap against downhill run-blocking, and strong enough to disrupt rushing lanes with backfield penetration, Brown is a conventional solution within the 2021 NFL Draft to the Minnesota Vikings’ woes in run defense.

Still lacking any semblance of a plan of attack when rushing the passer, Brown can generally be considered a non-factor by offensive coordinators outside of the occasional bullrush when he is able to forklift a guard and overpower them into the face of their quarterback.

Potentially forming a rookie tandem between himself and Stills, Brown offers impressive mass in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and can complete a role worthy of his draft value.

A potential 2021 NFL Draft gem with elite athleticism nestled into the depths of the draft order, FCS cornerback Robert Rochell could be a serviceable cornerback for a depleted Minnesota Vikings’ secondary. At six-foot-two, 195-pounds, Rocell displays the desired frame of an elite NFL corner but still has yet to prove his worth against elite competition.

Statistically productive during his time at Central Arkansas, in his junior season Rochell had an interception in five of their seven contests, showing a natural application of his athleticism to make plays on the ball.

This level of production failed to carry into 2020 though as Rochell failed to procure an interception through seven games. What he did have the chance to showcase though, was an impressive game against North Dakota State’s Trey Lance in which Rochell came up with two pass breakups and showed he could compete one-on-one with some of the FCS’s best wideouts.

It would not come as a surprise to see Rochell’s draft stock elevate into the middle rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft with an impressive performance during combine season. Regardless, Rochell is a potential day-three waiver for the Minnesota Vikings secondary with the potential to become something much more impactful.
