Miami Dolphins 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 2, 44th overall

838. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. RB. North Carolina. Javonte Williams. 2. player

Running back stands out as a major position of need for the Miami Dolphins this offseason and I would not be surprised to see them address the spot in the first round. However, in this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Dolphins pass on Najee Harris and Travis Etienne in the first and find better value with Javonte Williams in the second round.

Williams is a thick and powerful back who is difficult to bring down by any single defender. He sees the field extremely well, finding the hole quickly and showing solid burst through the gap.

Williams is undoubtedly a power-based running back prospect, but do not sleep on his quick feet. He changes directions quickly and shows explosive burst in the open field. His combination of speed, ball carrier vision and power is incredibly impressive and gives Williams absolutely massive upside at the next level.

Myles Gaskin was solid for the Miami Dolphins at the running back position this past season, but he is certainly not an ideal featured running back for the team going forward. However, Gaskin as the complimentary speed back to Williams as the featured power back could be a massive recipe for success for Miami.
