Miami Dolphins stockpile talent in 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft
Miami Dolphins 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 2, 35th overall
Interior defensive line is not a major position of need for the Miami Dolphins, but Christian Barmore is simply too talented of a player to ignore in this range. Plus, the Dolphins have so much extra draft capital that they can afford to take a chance on a player who they do not necessarily need, even this early.
Barmore is a quick and aggressive defensive tackle prospect who shows exciting upside as a one-gap penetrator. He is extremely quick off of the ball, shows good hand usage for an interior player and has the speed need to fire through gaps and make plays in the backfield. Barmore is also a big and powerful player who does a nice job of sinking in and preventing opposing offensive linemen to reach the second-level when needed.
Barmore really came on down the stretch for Alabama late last season, flashing consistent playmaking ability on the inside. In today’s NFL, most defenses rely on an attacking defensive line that can create penetration on the outside and the interior, making Barmore a perfect fit for modern football.
Simply put, Barmore is an exciting defensive playmaker who undoubtedly has big-time upside at the next level. The Dolphins could bring him in and let him shine in obvious passing situations early in his career and let him develop into a more full-time player. This kind of long-term approach could pay off in a big way for Miami with the selection of Barmore in this 2021 NFL mock draft.
