Miami Dolphins 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 18th overall

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Penn State. Micah Parsons. LB. 1. player. 806

Off-field concerns may cause Micah Parsons to slip down the board a bit in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was once considered a likely top-10 pick, and while that is still possible, whispers of character concerns are not going away. At this point, it feels unlikely that Parsons will go as early as top 10, but how far will he slide?

If Parsons is on the board when the Miami Dolphins go on the clock at No. 18, it is going to be difficult for this team to pass on him. Parsons is an extremely athletic linebacker prospect who shines as a sideline-to-sideline run defender and shows a ton of upside as a pass rusher. Parsons is an exciting weapon in the blitz game and can even make a major impact as an edge rusher.

While Parsons lacks great instincts in coverage, his combination of size and athleticism at the linebacker position gives him a ton of upside in this area. If he can grow into an impact player in coverage, there is no limit to how good Parsons can be.

Obviously, the Dolphins are going to have to do their homework on Parsons. These character concerns are troubling and Miami has to be careful. That being said, Parsons’ on-field ability as a linebacker/edge hybrid player is exciting and would make him a perfect fit for Brian Flores’ defensive attack.
