2021 NFL Draft: Panthers trade up, QBs go early in 2021 NFL mock draft
The New York Giants have plenty of needs entering the 2021 NFL Draft, mainly on the offensive side of the ball. The front seven played inspired football last season, the highlight being a toe-to-toe battle with the champs. Daniel Jones will be entering his third year and needs more weapons in the passing game.
DeVonta Smith here is perfect for this team. Smith is a consistent separator and can win at all three levels of the field. His release game is impressive, he has great hands, and despite his lack of elite speed, he can win vertically down the field. Smith’s frame could be a concern for some, but he’s got everything to be a consistent producer in the NFL.
The San Francisco 49ers should be back with a vengeance after a down 2020 season which features many injuries, especially on defense. They’ll be back to full strength and will pose a threat in the NFC. The main concern this offseason will be the offensive line. Trent Williams is a free agent, and the 49ers do have the space to bring him back, but he will only be around for the short term.
Rashawn Slater would be very good value at this spot. Slater has the technical skills, quick feet, and strength to be a tackle in the NFL, but he could start out at guard if Williams returns. Keeping Jimmy Garoppolo upright will be a priority, and Slater helps that.
