Falcons 2021 mock draft: Justin Fields the heir to Matt Ryan’s throne
With such a strong class of edge players in terms of the overall depth of the class (not necessarily the top-end talent), why not take two?
Especially for a team like the Falcons, this could be a necessary strategy.
Quincy Roche was tremendous in his three seasons at Temple and while his statistical production dipped a bit at Miami, the skill set is obviously still very attractive for NFL teams. Roche is not even 250 pounds, but he is physical off the edge and explosive.
An impressive all-around running back prospect, Hill has excellent contact balance and receiving abilities. He played in just three games this past season, deciding to opt-out after giving a few games in Mike Leach’s offense a try.
On day three of the NFL Draft, the Falcons would be getting themselves a starting-caliber running back who would fit very well in Arthur Smith’s offensive attack.
The 6-foot-2 corner out of Syracuse has some fascinating ball production and turnover-creating abilities (4 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles in 27 games).
The Falcons would be getting a steal if Williams fell to the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft with his freakish combination of size, length, athleticism, and ball skills.
After playing primarily left tackle for the Hawkeyes, Jackson will give some NFL team a potential future starter at the guard position. At the very least, I think Jackson will be a valuable swing offensive tackle in the NFL.
Granson has the look of a “big slot” type of tight end at the next level and he could be a fun matchup player to add at this juncture of the draft. He had 14 touchdowns over the last two seasons and has the versatility to flex into a fullback role if need be.
Former cornerback who made a transition to the safety position in 2020 and had some nice success with five interceptions.
His injury history could give teams pause, but he had too big of a season in 2020 to leave on the board this late in the mock draft scenario.
