2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 9th overall

Pick Analysis. Virginia Tech. Caleb Farley. 9. player. 45. Scouting Report. CB

Cornerback already stood out as a potential position of need for the Denver Broncos, but after their release of A.J. Bouye earlier this week, it now stands out as the position that the team is most likely to target here at No. 9. Caleb Farley is clearly one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft class and should be considered a high-level target for the Broncos here.

Farley is a big, long and athletic cornerback prospect who shines in press coverage at the line of scrimmage. His size and length paired with an incredible ability to move for a player of his size, Farley can match-up with any opposing receiver on the outside. He is a quick and fluid mover who closes on the ball in an instant and shows the speed needed to shut down the deep passing game.

Simply put, cornerbacks of his size (6-foot-2, 207 pounds) do not typically move as well as Farley. He is a smooth mover who also displays high-level ball skills. Farley has the ability to grow into a player who can shut down his side of the field and make the quarterback pay when he finally decides to throw his way.

While Farley is a bit of a raw talent who has not played the cornerback position long, he does show good defensive instincts that should translate well to the next level. This prospect will need some development in the NFL but Farley is undoubtedly an incredibly gifted player who could quickly grow into an impact player on the outside for the Broncos.
