2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 4th overall

Oregon. Penei Sewell. player. 44. OT. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 4

The quarterback position could certainly be an option for the Atlanta Falcons in the 2021 NFL Draft. Matt Ryan will be 36-years-old next season and it is difficult to predict when the Falcons will be picking this high again. That being said, using the fourth overall pick to help build a strong team around Ryan could put the Falcons in a much better position to succeed in the short term.

With the fourth overall selection of this mock draft, the Falcons select Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell. This may seem like an odd fit on the surface, but the Falcons could certainly use some help on the offensive line and Sewell stands out as one of the premier players remaining on the board. New Falcons head coach Arthur Smith will likely be looking to build this team through the offensive line and adding Sewell to the mix is a great step in the right direction.

Sewell is a big, strong and athletic offensive tackle prospect who moves extremely well in space and shows tremendous power at the point of attack. He is a fantastic pass protector who mirrors opposing edge rushers at a high level and also sinks in and anchors against power extremely well. Sewell is also an impact run blocker who particularly shines when he is asked to get out in space and move. He is a true weapon in the screen game, getting out into space in an instant and creating space for the ball carrier.

Simply put, Sewell is an elite offensive tackle prospect who has massive upside at the next level. Adding him to the mix would force the Falcons to mix around their offensive line a bit, but they could certainly use an injection of talent up front and Sewell stands tall as a fantastic value pick in this range.
