2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 17th overall

Samuel Cosmi. 17. player. Pick Analysis. OT. Texas. 46. Scouting Report

Nothing is more important for the Indianapolis Colts this offseason than finding solving their major need at the quarterback position. This is a good, strong team with impact players on both sides of the ball and if they are not able to find a solid quarterback who can lead them, 2021 will likely be a lost season for the team.

More likely than not, the Colts will look to address their quarterback need with a veteran option. However, they could look to the 2021 NFL Draft to take care of their need at left tackle. There are many ways that the Colts can look to address their need at left tackle this offseason but it is difficult to ignore the talent at the position in the 2021 NFL Draft. In this mock draft, the Colts find an interesting trade-up scenario to land one of the top players at the position in the class.

Samuel Cosmi is an extremely talented offensive tackle prospect who has experience playing on both sides of the line of scrimmage. He is a quick and agile offensive lineman who fires off the ball quickly and has the mobility needed to successfully attack the second level. Cosmi also shows elite flashes in pass protection, using his quick feet and long frame to keep edge rushers away from his quarterback most of the time.

Cosmi is considered a bit of a project player who will need proper coaching in order to have success at the next level. He may struggle a bit at the start of his career, but I would be betting on his ability to grow quickly and become a rock-solid offensive tackle at the next level. Replacing Anthony Castonzo will be easy, but with this pick, the Colts find a high-upside replacement who could grow into a fantastic long-term starter for the team.
