Pick Analysis. Offensive Line . Northwestern. player. Scouting Report. Rashawn Slater. . 882

If you are a big fan of football, you will fall in love with Rashawn Slater. After watching a lot of offensive line prospects this year, Slater is my favorite. If the Dallas Cowboys select Rashawn Slater in the 2021 NFL Draft, the fans should be jumping for joy, and here is why.

The very first thing I did when I studied Slater was to go right to the tape in 2018 against Ohio State. The reason is I wanted to see how Slater did against Chase Young. As many of you know, the Dallas Cowboys will be playing against Chase Young for the next decade or so within the division.

If there is one thing teams always say it’s to draft and build your team to compete and win your division because you play two games against them every year. In 2018, Slater shut down Chase Young. I saw multiple times the Defensive Rookie Of The Year was on his back while Slater was at work all day.

I’m sure you all can see I have Slater listed as an offensive lineman compared to left tackle which is what he plays. The reason for this is I believe if the Dallas Cowboys draft him they would move him to right tackle year one and move La’el Collins to left guard. Then, if the Cowboys move on from Tyron Smith in 2022, the team can move Slater to left tackle for the next decade to deal with Young and others.

If the Dallas Cowboys do decide to take Slater with the 10th overall pick, it wouldn’t be a sexy pick or fill a defensive need. But what this pick does is secure your starting five, gives you insurance in case the team moves on from Tyron Smith or he gets hurt during the year, and provides a safe pick that will help you protect Dak Prescott.
