Chicago Bears top 2021 offseason needs: The rest

Interior offensive line

The Bears have a definite need on their interior offensive line, which is surprising considering how good both James Daniels and Cody Whitehair have looked at times early on in their careers.

Not that the Bears need to completely give up on those two guys, but there again is some solid depth on the interior offensive line in this draft class. The Bears could try to take a couple of offensive linemen from this draft and develop them into starters at tackle and/or on the interior.

Defensive line

A number of key contributors on the Chicago Bears’ defensive line are slated for free agency in the 2021 offseason, including Roy Robertson-Harris, Brent Urban, and Mario Edwards. Four defensive linemen who played 200 or more snaps for the Bears’ defense in 2020 are free agents.

There is no question that the defensive line will have to be a priority with Akiem Hicks now 31 years old and Eddie Goldman coming off of the COVID/reserve list, presumably. Bilal Nichols has developed into a steady piece, but this defensive line needs a deep rotation and many of the players providing depth could be gone in 2021.

Cornerback

You can never have too much depth in the secondary and while the Bears have the two outside starter positions locked down with Kyle Fuller and Jaylon Johnson, this team needs depth both inside and outside at the cornerback position.

I still have hope that Kindle Vildor can develop into a top nickel at the next level, but in a deep cornerback class both in free agency and the draft, the Bears would be wise to throw some darts.
