Kansas City Chiefs 2021 Mock Draft: Retooling the offensive line
The Kansas City Chiefs could face a mass exodus on both sides of the ball this offseason, and that includes the wide receiver position. Both Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson are free agents, so finding someone in the 2021 NFL Draft will be important to fill that need.
This class is deep, so finding an impact player on day three shouldn’t be a problem. Here, the Chiefs select North Carolina wideout Dazz Newsome. Newsome had a bit of a down year in 2020 after posting 1,000 yards in 2019, but he still showed what makes him an intriguing prospect. He’s got dynamic quickness as a route runner and in space and could fit into the offense as a slot receiver early.
The linebacker position is a hotly debated topic amongst analysts, and some believe that they don’t matter. After last night’s performance from Devin White and Lavonte David, it’s hard to say that. The Chiefs were missing Willie Gay against the Bucs, and it definitely hurt their defense.
Hitchens is still under contract, but adding more depth to that room would be best. KJ Britt isn’t the most athletic linebacker and his coverage skills aren’t great, but he’s got great instincts in the run game and has good closing speed.
