Kansas City Chiefs 2021 Mock Draft: Retooling the offensive line
Looking ahead to 2021, the Kansas City Chiefs have a very good secondary returning. L’Jarius Sneed was productive as a rookie, and their safety room is one of the better ones in the league. What the Chiefs are really missing is someone opposite Sneed who can hold it down in man coverage.
Bashaud Breeland had a rough Super Bowl and couldn’t stay with any of Tampa Bay’s receivers, drawing some penalties in the process. We’ve seen this Chiefs defense give up big plays this season, and the flaws were accentuated last night.
In what looks like a top-heavy cornerback class, finding one early will be a priority if that’s what Brett Veach decides. He isn’t getting talked about enough yet, but Northwestern’s Greg Newsome II is a very intriguing player.
Newsome is listed at six foot two and 190 pounds, which is very good size for the position. He’s shown off good ball skills in his time with the Wildcats (20 career pass breakups despite just one interception) and displays good transitional quickness in coverage.
He only played in three games in 2020 but was lockdown in coverage. Newsome could come in and start right away opposite Sneed.
