Senior Bowl prospects Indianapolis Colts should target in 2021 NFL Draft
Who should the Indianapolis Colts consider from the Senior Bowl in the 2021 NFL Draft?
The Senior Bowl has come and gone, and what a great event it was. Now, the road to the 2021 NFL Draft is underway. While the process will once again be different, trusting the tape remains the same. It will be no different with the Indianapolis Colts, as general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Frank Reich have plenty of board trimming to do before the NFL Draft in late April.
If the Indianapolis Colts have shown us anything from the draft in recent years, it’s that the Senior Bowl is an important part of the evaluation process for Ballard, and 2021 should be no different. Ballard has talked about that being a contributing factor, along with being a team captain.
Back in 2020, both Michael Pittman Jr. and Julian Blackmon received invites to Mobile. Blackmon obviously couldn’t play because of injury, but Pittman Jr. clearly made an impression on the Colts that week.
In 2019, over half of the Colts’ draft class (six out of 10 picks) were participants, including four of their first five selections. 2018 was no different, with Darius Leonard, Kemoko Turay, and Tyquan Lewis all selections who participated.
So, even in another crazy year, it’s clear to expect the Indianapolis Colts to select players who played in the Senior Bowl. With that said, it’s time to do some due diligence and find players who Ballard might select. Let’s dive in and take a look at a few prospects who the Colts could select that align with their current needs in the 2021 draft.
