2021 NFL Draft: 19th pick

player. 58. OL. Alijah Vera-Tucker. 19. USC. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Just like the New England Patriots, the Washington Football Team is another squad caught between a rock and a hard place at the quarterback position.

The revolving door they had at the position in the 2020 season ended with Alex Smith ultimately looking like the best option they had, which is probably not saying much looking forward at the future of this team.

Smith is still under contract for the 2021 season and Washington would probably be wise to keep him around just in case no other options work out.

They apparently were in the Matthew Stafford sweepstakes but how interested in this year’s draft class are they, at least to the guys who are realistically available to them?

There is no clear option that makes sense for Washington in this draft to trade up for given their other needs on the roster.

The left tackle position needs to be addressed and Alijah Vera-Tucker showed in 2020 that he is capable of playing there long-term.

Heading into the 2020 season, he was thought of as strictly an interior player but USC moved him to tackle and he did a tremendous job.

Whether Washington would use him at tackle or guard, they would have a plug-and-play starter with this pick.
