2021 NFL Draft: 15th pick

15. player. 47. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. Alabama. Jaylen Waddle

Who is going to play quarterback for the New England Patriots in 2021?

Who knows?

The Patriots may need to go against what has been the typical grain for them and move up for a player they like in this year’s draft, whether that’s someone like Trey Lance, Mac Jones, or Justin Fields. They are most likely out of range on Zach Wilson.

The Patriots will undoubtedly explore free agent options as well, but there are clearly question marks for this team at the most important position on the roster for the second straight offseason.

With that being said, what scenario at quarterback here is appealing to them? They likely won’t be able to trade for Sam Darnold. They did not seem to be in on Matthew Stafford. What are the Patriots going to do here?

In this scenario, they take the super-talented Jaylen Waddle to add to what has been one of the worst sets of skill players in the league, specifically at receiver.

Jaylen Waddle can line up in the slot or out wide and excel in both areas. His long speed is unbelievable, but his ability to make defenders miss in space is second-to-none in this year’s class.

Getting a playmaker like this is going to make the quarterback — whoever it is — a lot better.
