2021 NFL Draft: Huge QB trades in pre-Super Bowl mock draft
2021 NFL Draft: 13th pick
The Los Angeles Chargers struck gold in the 2020 NFL Draft with Justin Herbert.
Herbert was named offensive rookie of the year in 2020 after his record-breaking season as a first-year passer. The Chargers, however, decided to make wholesale changes to their coaching staff.
Los Angeles fired head coach Anthony Lynn and brought in Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley as their new head coach. Staley hired Joe Lombardi to run the offensive side of the ball.
There is still work to be done there and the Chargers obviously have to hope there is no regression with Herbert moving from one offense to another, especially if there are concerns of the 2021 offseason being even somewhat similar to 2020.
Rashawn Slater opted out of the 2020 season but there is no doubt about his talent as an offensive tackle. He doesn’t have the frame of the ideal offensive tackle, but turn on Slater’s tape against Chase Young from the 2019 season and you’ll see a player that is ready to face the best of the best.
Some believe Slater will move to guard at the next level, but the good news is for the Chargers, they won’t have to be overly picky about where he lands in terms of position, because they could have needs all over their offensive line.
