Baltimore Ravens: Post-Senior Bowl seven-round 2021 NFL mock draft
By Pablo Rosero
Round 5, 152nd overall
Going back to this team’s dire need at EDGE, Northern Iowa’s Elerson Smith could quite possibly become an elite pass rusher in a few years in the right system. Considering the Ravens have had a tendency of producing some pretty good defensive players, Elerson Smith would be able to hit his potential.
At 6-foot-7, Smith is a giant playing the EDGE position who uses his long arms to move defenders around. After not playing in 2020 due to his team’s season being canceled on COVID, Smith’s most recent season was highlighted by his 14-sack season of 2019.
The hope is that he’ll continue to grow, but the Ravens could be looking at a good young rookie EDGE tandem of Roche and Smith.
Round 6, 186th overall
The team could be looking for a future upgrade next to last year’s first-round pick Patrick Queen and Riley Cole could be an interesting choice late. LJ Fort is not a bad option, and he should remain the starter in 2021, but looking long-term, the team will need to have a better option.
Going with Cole, another small school prospect, will give the team a special teamer to start and a player who should develop into a starter or role linebacker.
Coming out of high school, Cole was originally committed to Alabama before flipping to South Alabama. In his last season at South Alabama, Cole had 59 tackles and 9 tackles for loss. With a nose for the football, Cole would slot in well next to Queen, who is the better athlete.
