Round 4, 122nd overall

WR. Shi Smith. 4. player. 850. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. South Carolina

There should be two priorities for the Baltimore Ravens this offseason. The first is making sure the team signs Lamar Jackson and Orlando Brown to long term deals, and the second is making sure the team gets Jackson wideouts that he can actually throw to.

Marquise Brown hasn’t lived up to his billing as a first-round wideout and bringing back Dez Bryant wasn’t the best response. The team must focus on getting Jackson, who still seems afraid of throwing deep or contested balls at times, wideouts who get open.

That is where Shi Smith would excel. At 5-foot-10, Smith isn’t the most physically overwhelming wideout, but at the Senior Bowl, he proved that he can easily get open due to his agility and route running.

Smith could also be used in a similar way that the San Francisco 49ers use both Deebo Samuel, another former Gamecock, and Brandon Aiyuk. The key is to get the ball in his hands and watch him work.

The Ravens are in dire need of a wideout that can consistently get open and not just hope to burn the opposing defender as Brown does. Smith, and adding a wideout in free agency, could be the answer to the Baltimore Ravens finally having a consistent passing attack with Jackson under center.
