Raiders mock draft: Round 2 Pick 48

EDGE. Shaka Toney. Pick Analysis. Penn State. . player. 806. Scouting Report

The Raiders get their interior lineman in Barmore, now they get themselves some depth at edge rusher. The Silver and Black still have Crosby but he’s more apt for a rotational role in order to maximize his strengths. Adding Penn State’s Shaka Toney will give them an explosive rusher that was nearly impossible to stop in one-on-one situations.

At six-foot-three, Toney compiled 20 sacks, 28.5 tackles for a loss, and four forced fumbles in his four-year collegiate career. Toney’s pass-rushing PFF grade of 81.6 for the 2020 season’s certainly noteworthy. Even if you don’t put much weight on PFF grades, the sheer numbers in generating pressure and disrupting plays are eye-popping.

Toney’s motor and relentless pursuit of quarterbacks is on full display in his film. He’s so much more than just a pass rusher though. Toney often displays keen awareness, and time and time again you see him breaking up runs in the backfield.

The Raiders could use both of these traits as they already have an excellent run-stopper in Ferrell on one side. You combine his explosiveness off the line with devastating tackling, Toney would be an absolute steal in the second round.
