Denver Broncos 2021 mock draft

After moving around the board and picking up an additional second-round pick, the Denver Broncos were able to cash in on some great value in this mock draft.

Denver used a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Wake Forest linebacker Justin Strnad and then they targeted his teammates Essang Bassey and Kendall Hinton after the draft process was finished.

It’s clear that the scouting department and coaching staff liked what they saw from the Wake Forest program and while Strnad suffered a season-ending injury in camp (preventing him from playing a substantial role in the Broncos’ nickel package) Bassey actually became the team’s top nickel corner.

Basham Jr. has been the best player on that Wake Forest defense for the last three seasons and it just so happens the Broncos could use his services off the edge.

Although he’s not known for being a speedy edge bender, Basham has a wide array of skills including tremendous athletic ability. He has a powerful initial hand punch and can move all around the formation on the defensive front.

His versatility would be welcomed in the Vic Fangio defense and no matter what happens with Von Miller, the Broncos could find a place for Basham in their rotation.
