Denver Broncos 2021 mock draft

Asante Samuel Jr. may not be the biggest cornerback in the 2021 NFL Draft class, but he has speed, quickness, and tremendous technique to go along with toughness.

All of the attributes you see from him at the cornerback position are attributes that will endear him to a coach like Vic Fangio, whose scheme is dependent on a strong pass rush and cornerbacks who can play with instincts and reactive quickness.

The Denver Broncos have a very interesting situation at cornerback right now. They are not expected to retain 2020 trade acquisition AJ Bouye. Bryce Callahan played very well in 2020 but was once again limited by a foot injury. 2020 rookie Michael Ojemudia will be a projected starter in 2021, but he has to clean up some inconsistency issues.

The Broncos will undoubtedly be in the market for a starting-caliber cornerback or two in the 2021 offseason, and I think you can expect them to look near the top of the 2021 NFL Draft as well as free agency for some help there.

Samuel had 29 pass deflections in 31 games for the Seminoles and four interceptions in his last 20 games. He’s got a knack for making plays on the ball and I think he can excel early on whether he’s playing outside or in the slot.
