Jacksonville Jaguars 2021 mock draft: 1st round (2nd pick)

Considering how well undrafted rookie James Robinson played in 2020 (team-leading 1,414 yards from scrimmage, 10 total touchdowns, 49 receptions) this selection may not overly thrill the Jaguars faithful from a positional value standpoint.

Top it off with the fact that the Jaguars just moved on from a former first-round pick at running back (Leonard Fournette), and this selection just might drive a few people crazy.

The fact of the matter is, the new regime in Jacksonville can’t build with past draft failures in mind. Najee Harris would be such a great weapon for a rookie quarterback to have at the running back position.

The Alabama Crimson Tide star had 1,891 yards from scrimmage this past season and (checks notes) 30 total touchdowns.

Harris’ insane production in 2020 was the result of an incredibly versatile skill set and just the fact that he is such an intuitive player who has gotten better year after year at Alabama.

He can line up out wide as a receiver and run routes like one, but Harris is a tremendous ball carrier out of the backfield with vision, finesse, and acceleration. Although he may be somewhat similar to former Alabama running back Derrick Henry in that he’s big for his position (6-foot-2, 230 pounds) he is not the same type of bruising back.

Harris is his own style of player but a tremendous three-down back.
