Standouts

It was the Richie Grant show at safety at the 2021 Senior Bowl. Grant got reps covering receivers and tight ends and looked good doing both. His best position is at free safety playing single high, where he can utilize his range and ball skills.

Grant’s transitional quickness looked good in man coverage during practices, and the ball skills showed up, as he came up with two picks in practice during full-team drills. He had a fantastic week, and his stock for the 2021 NFL Draft is way up.

Florida State’s Hamsah Nasirildeen looked a little sluggish covering slot receives, but he was every bit the tight end eraser many thought he was. Nasirildeen is physical and will work best near the line of scrimmage in the NFL, but possesses enough athleticism to be effective in coverage.

Virginia Tech’s Divine Deablo is another safety who had a productive week. He hung with Hunter Long all week in 1v1s and is very good breaking up passes at the catch point.

Struggled

Missouri’s Tyree Gillespie, who played safety for the Tigers, was asked to do a lot this week, covering some of the top receivers in the nation. It was hard for him to keep up most of the time, and man coverage isn’t something Gillespie will be doing much of at the next level.
