2021 Senior Bowl: Corners

Standouts

The corners had an uphill battle at the 2021 Senior Bowl, dealing with yet another fantastic receiver group. There were still a few corners that stood out during the week.

Oklahoma’s Tre Brown, coming in at five foot nine and 188 pounds, surprised many this week. His role will be in the slot at the next level, but Brown showed incredible competitiveness during practices this week. His transitional quickness was impressive and he stuck his nose in at contact.

Washington’s Keith Taylor struggled a bit early on in the week, especially against quicker receivers. But, as the week went on, Taylor stayed more patient at the line of scrimmage and didn’t bite early. He really excelled against the bigger receivers in Mobile.

Syracuse’s Ifeatu Melifonwu got reps covering tight ends and receivers this week at the Senior Bowl and looked good doing it. He will get opportunities to erase top tight ends at the next level, and looked effective closing in off-man coverage and made plays at the catch point.

He got a little handsy all week, but UCF’s Aaron Robinson played tough at the line of scrimmage and made receivers earn everything. He also looked good timing PBU’s at the catch point.

Struggled

Two Pac 12 corners struggled a bit in Mobile this week. Cal’s Camryn Bynum struggled to stay in phase against receivers, and often opened his shoulder and hips too early to commit vertically and got beat underneath. Oregon’s Thomas Graham also looked rusty after sitting out the 2020 season.
