2021 NFL mock draft: Round 2, 62nd overall

Pick Analysis. Ifeatu Melifonwu. player. Scouting Report. CB. Syracuse. 2. 827

The more I watch Syracuse defensive back Ifeatu Melifonwu, the more I fall in love with him as a prospect. Melifonwu is a converted safety whose combination of length and athleticism helps make him an incredible cornerback prospect. He is tough and aggressive at the line of scrimmage, shows the short-area quickness needed to keep up throughout the route and is fast enough to compete against the deep ball.

Melifonwu also shows impressive natural ball skills, using his length to his advantage to bat the ball away from the opposing receiver. The Buffalo Bills would be wise to look for some more talent at the cornerback position as they try to find a strong corner to play opposite of Tre’Davious White

. Melifonwu feels like a massive potential steal in this range and could quickly become the guy who rounds out the Bills’ secondary.

2021 NFL mock draft: Round 3, 93rd overall

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ronnie Perkins. EDGE. Oklahoma. 3. player. 815

I would not call edge rusher a massive position of need for the Buffalo Bills, but with Trent Murphy hitting free agency this offseason and Jerry Hughes hitting the open market after the 2021 season, it is certainly a position that could use some attention. In the third round of this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Buffalo Bills make an investment in Oklahoma edge defender Ronnie Perkins.

Perkins’ game being primarily built on speed may make him seem like an odd fit for the Buffalo Bills. That being said, Perkins is bigger and stronger than he is typically given credit for. He can hold his own at the point of attack and does a good job of setting the edge and maintaining his responsibilities against the run.

On top of that, Perkins is an explosive edge rusher and gets off of the ball quickly and shows fantastic bend around the edge. When Perkins is needed to simply attack the quarterback, he can pin his ears back and create consistent pressure. Even if the Bills primarily use him as a situational rusher, Perkins could certainly come in and make an impact for the team on the defensive side of the ball.
