2021 NFL Draft: Five QBs fly off of the board in first-round mock draft
The Raiders continue to add pieces to their defense with hopes that 2021 can finally be a playoff year. After falling short the last two seasons with December collapses it is to wonder what this team needs moving forward.
That being said I believe they can use an edge rusher to get after the quarterback more and generate more sacks. Rousseau exploded during the 2019 season with 54 tackles, 15.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
He will be a great addition to a young core of defensive ends like Maxx Crosby, Clelin Ferrell and Arden Key.
The Dolphins second first-rounder in the 2021 NFL Draft and they land another Alabama star, this time running back Najee Harris. Harris joins Smith taken earlier in this round and last year draftee Tua Tagovailoa as a trio of Crimson Tide players.
The running back position for the Dolphins in 2020 was a revolving door with Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed leading the charge towards the end of the year. A stud like Harris would put a jolt into this offense and help lead the Dolphins to the playoffs next season as they just fell short.
That’s right Mac Jones is the fifth quarterback taken in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. We do not know if Alex Smith intends to play next season yet and even though Taylor Heinicke played a great game in the playoffs against Tom Brady it was only one game. Even if Smith is back with the team Jones can learn a lot sitting behind the veteran for the season.
The Washington Football Team released former first-rounder Dewayne Haskins after his off the field issues. This leads them to take a quarterback that may be going slightly higher than some have him on their draft boards. Though I believe he is worthy of a first-round pick after leading the Crimson Tide to the National Championship.
Chicago would love to grab a quarterback in the draft but I believe they will be all in on the Dak Prescott. The Chicago coaching staff is in a make or break season in 2021 so I believe moving up and drafting a quarterback is out of the question.
Also bringing back Mitch Trubisky does not make sense for a team that needs to win football games in 2021. That leaves Prescott as a viable option for the Bears and why not build the offensive line around whichever quarterback leads this team.
Leatherwood has the ability to play at guard or tackle as he played both for the Crimson Tide.
