Miami Dolphins Senior Bowl targets: Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina

If the Miami Dolphins wanted to wait to the second round to address the running back position, North Carolina’s Michael Carter would make sense. This could make sense for the team as it would allow them to add a defensive player with their other first-round pick. One linebacker that would make sense with that pick is Tulsa outside linebacker, Zaven Collins.

As a prospect, Carter has shown he is a playmaker who has the speed to go the distance anytime he touches the ball. Last year, he averaged eight yards per carry and rushed for 1,245 despite splitting time with Javonta Williams.

Another skill that stands out with Carter is his vision, as he does a great job of finding the hole. He also has the ability to catch out of the backfield having finished third on the team in receptions with 25.

The fact he can contribute in the passing game is a must for any future Dolphins running back as the team loves to throw passes to its backs. While Carter might not be a person who can carry the full load he could team up with Myles Gaskins to give the team a decent one-two punch at running back.

Another back the team could consider on the third of the 2021 NFL Draft is Oklahoma’s Rhamondre Stevenson who will also be at the Senior Bowl. Like Harris, Stevenson is more of a power back although he is not nearly the athlete Harris is.
