Defensive Tackle. Scouting Report. USC. Jay Tufele. 25. player. Pick Analysis. 52

After drafting Trevor Lawrence first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars shift their attention to the defensive side of the ball for their second pick of the first round.

The Jags struggled against both the pass and the run in 2020, so investing in a disruptive presence on the defensive line could help in regards to both. Jay Tufele might be the best there is at the position in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Tufele is just a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line. at 6-foot-3 and 315 lbs, Tufele is clearly a big force to try to move. He can effectively take on blockers and double teams and still shed and make a play.

What impresses me the most about Tufele is his athleticism for such a big guy. He has incredible explosion and get-off after the snap, often using a quick swim move to get right into the backfield.

Tufele is a very fiery competitor with a non-stop motor. You’re always going to get 100% from him, 100% of the time. The Jaguars tried to address the defensive tackle position with first-round pick Taven Bryan just a could years ago, but they clearly still need some help.

Jay Tufele has been one of my favorite players to watch on film and should come in and make an immediate impact for an up-and-coming Jags’ squad that will look to compete early and often under Urban Meyer.
