Although it appears that Ben Roethlisberger will be back with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021, it is likely that left tackle, Alejandro Villanueva, will not be. If the Steelers do move on from Villanueva, I could definitely see the team add a young left tackle with this pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Liam Eichenberg is a very solid left tackle prospect that does just about everything well. He’s not overly athletic, but he is a powerful people mover in the run game. In a gap run scheme, Eichenberg should be able to dominate edge defenders at the next level with his heavy hands and powerful core.

As a pass blocker, Eichenberg is impressive as well. He isn’t the most fleet of foot, but he is technically sound with an NFL body to keep defenders at bay.

While Eichenberg may not have the super high ceiling and upside that many teams look for in draft picks, he is one of the most NFL ready, plug-and-play starters in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Steelers need to capitalize here, saving money at one of the most important positions in football while they try to make one last run here with Big Ben.
