2021 NFL Draft: Deshaun Watson on the move in latest NFL mock draft
Samuel Cosmi is another player that many 2021 NFL Draft evaluators believe could become a franchise left tackle. I’m not a huge fan, but I could certainly see him going in this range of the first round.
Cosmi has an impressive frame but severely lacks the functional strength on that frame to be a dominant force. But with his experience, technique and upside, he could develop into a solid tackle under the right direction.
With above-average athleticism, Cosmi displays sound footwork and uses his length to his advantage. He stays in front of his defenders and keeps them at bay with his long arms. In the run game, Cosmi excels and a puller and in space.
After making the playoffs this season, it appears the Chicago Bears might actually give Mitch Trubisky another chance to show them that he is their future at the quarterback position. No matter who is under center, the Bears need to keep them protected.
Cosmi has a way to go until he is an above-average starting left tackle in the NFL. But under the right coaching and if he is able to add some more muscle, Cosmi could eventually get to that level. The Bears are a team that could take a bit of a chance on his upside in hopes that he can become that player sooner rather than later.
