2021 NFL Draft: Deshaun Watson on the move in latest NFL mock draft
It’s very unclear who will be the quarterback for Washington this season, but whoever it is will need some protection. The Football Team needs a left tackle to protect the passer, and Christian Darrisaw could be the best remaining.
Darrisaw, like Slater, has a great blend of power, athleticism and technique. He is a big-body blocker who can use his size to shield off defenders. He uses his great footwork to stay in front of rushers and his length to keep them at bay.
As a mover, Darrisaw really excels. He would fit perfectly in a zone run scheme, getting out in space and dominating defenders. He is an excellent puller with a nasty streak as he moves on the next level.
If Darrisaw can continue to improve and add more functional strength to his frame, he could develop into a high-end NFL left tackle. Something that the Washington Football Team undoubtedly need going forward.
Whether it is for Alex Smith, Kyle Allen, a rookie or a free agent, Christian Darrisaw could be key in keeping them clean, upright and healthy. Even after making the playoffs, the Football Team still has quite a few needs that they need to address, and at this point in the draft, left tackle might be the way to go.
