Houston Texans 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Round 4
Carrying on the theme of attempting to repair a broken run defense and supplement a dwindling pass-rush, the Houston Texans dive into the hearty center of the 2021 NFL draft edge class. Despite being surrounded by more statistically productive candidates, Kaindoh possesses a rare combination of physical gifts.
At six-foot-seven, 265-pounds, Kaindoh combines length and strength with unexpected first-step quickness and unnatural hip-bend for a player of his stature. Although he may have every measurable NFL scouts seek in an All-Pro edge rusher, Kaindoh will need to spend time with his coaching staff to fully polish his game.
Kaindoh has shown to rely heavily upon his superior athleticism rather than a selection of pass-rush moves to change his attack. Possibly more impactful to his day one usage, Kaindoh struggles to set the edge in run defense and will be a liability on early downs. Once his athleticism is reigned in though, Kaindoh will have the ceiling of a premier first-round prospect.
One of the most apparent voids in the Houston Texans passing attack this season (outside of the loss of a generational wide receiver) was the presence of a receiving target with imposing physical stature.
Most commonly fulfilled within the tight end group, Deshaun Watson was forced time and time again to make tight-window throws to undersized receivers that simply didn’t have the physicality to leverage themselves into a better position. In a surprisingly attractive 2021 NFL draft tight ends class, Houston can find a potential answer to such woes.
Kenny Yeboah has been one of the least talked about tight ends of the 2021 NFL draft despite a prolific showing in his one and only season at Ole Miss. At six-foot-four, Yeboah is a prototype tight end whose physical appearance more closely resembles the likes of Mike Evans rather than Rob Gronkowski. With this lean frame, Yeboah is a prime seam-buster who combines his physical superiority with surprising agility and acceleration to generate yardage after the catch.
Houston Texans 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Round 5
For part three of the defensive-backfield overhaul in the 2021 NFL draft, the Houston Texans go back to the cornerback position and bring in a physically-talented prospect out of cornerback-U.
A physically gifted prospect, Kary Vincent Jr.is an undersized corner at only five-foot-ten with fluid hips and lightning quickness. A member of the LSU track team, Vincent was a two-time Texas 6A state champion in the 200-meter event.
Speed can never be underestimated in the modern NFL, and Vincent is one of few prospects in the 2021 NFL draft who could potentially keep pace with the likes of Tyreek Hill, Henry Ruggs, Jaylen Waddle, etc. Vincent also fills the man-to-man mold, matching fellow rookie Shaun Wade, and has also been projected to slide back to the free-safety role with his immense range.
