2021 NFL Draft: 9th overall

9. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Virginia Tech. Caleb Farley. player. 45

The Denver Broncos were a popular playoff sleeper heading into 2020 and just didn’t end up delivering. The offense was inconsistent under second-year quarterback Drew Lock, and injuries and COVID weren’t kind to them, as they played a game without the entire quarterback room.

Next year will be a big one for Lock, as that will determine if his replacement is on the way.

As for the defense, they need to get younger at the cornerback position. Head coach Vic Fangio has a type when it comes to corners, so you can bet he will be doing his share of scouting throughout the 2021 NFL Draft process.

Virginia Tech corner Caleb Farley is the pick here for the Broncos, and he will have something to say about who’s CB1 in the 2021 NFL Draft. Like others, Farley opted out in 2020, so scouts have to go back to the tape in 2019.

They will like what they see. Farley excels in both man and zone coverage, and is physical at the line, and closes well when in off-man coverage. He stays in the receiver’s hip pocket vertically and has good timing at the catch point. Denver gets a good one here.
