2021 NFL Mock Draft: Two teams trade up for QBs in 2021 NFL Mock Draft
2021 NFL Draft: 28th overall
The last of the divisional round exits, the New Orleans Saints are in for an offseason like one they haven’t seen before. After a four-turnover performance in a loss to the Buccaneers, it looks like quarterback Drew Brees will hang it up.
He is one of the greatest to ever play the position, and it will be difficult to replace him. Odds are, the Saints don’t address that position early in the 2021 NFL Draft, as they may roll with Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill in 2021.
In what otherwise looks like a complete roster, the Saints will need to make some veteran cuts to get under the cap, as they are a staggering number of millions over right now. As far as pinpointing a need now, linebacker looked like the most pressing in their loss. Alex Anzalone struggled to get off blocks and struggled in coverage.
A player like Tulsa’s Zaven Collins could instantly boost the New Orleans defense. Collins has had a meteoric rise so far, and he may get a bigger boost in the 2021 NFL Draft process. In 2020, the six-foot-four, 260-pound Collins had 54 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, and four picks, including two touchdowns.
He was all over the field for Tulsa, showing off his insane range and speed. His testing numbers will be off the charts, and he could be a cornerstone for the Saints for a long time.
