2021 NFL Draft: 25th overall

Scouting Report. player. 52. Pick Analysis. TE. Penn State. Pat Freiermuth. 25

The Jacksonville Jaguars are back up once again, and in their full rebuild, no position is safe from an upgrade in the 2021 NFL Draft. In this mock, they’ve already selected their quarterback of the future in Lawrence.

Offensive line could be in play with this pick, as Cam Robinson has struggled at tackle and could use a permanent position switch to guard. Wide receiver looks pretty set with D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault. Running back could also be in play, but it feels like a reach here, especially with much more 2021 NFL Draft capital on day two and three.

Instead, the Jaguars look to get another weapon for Lawrence, this time at the tight end position. Tyler Eifert had a bit of a resurgence in Jacksonville, but getting a game-breaker who can affect multiple phases of the game would be excellent.

Pat Freiermuth hasn’t been discussed much in draft circles recently, probably because of a down season for Penn State, but there’s a reason he was talked about being the potential top tight end in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Freiermuth can line up inline, at flex, and be split out wide. He can win matchups across the board as a receiving threat, showing great ability through contact and in a contested spot. He’s a tough blocker at the point of attack and could help out the run game as well in Jacksonville. Pairing him with Lawrence would be a ton of fun.
