The Indianapolis Colts, like the Chicago Bears, could very well be interested in moving up for a quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. Philip Rivers is likely hanging it up, and Jacoby Brissett clearly isn’t the long term answer. General manager Chris Ballard may also want to see what he has in Jacob Eason before committing a lot of draft capital to get a quarterback.

The bigger issue, especially if they miss out on the top four at quarterback, would be left tackle. Anthony Castonzo is officially retiring after 10 seasons with the Colts, and that leaves a gaping hole on the offensive line.

Of course, it’s possible Indy moves Quenton Nelson over there for the long term and go from there, but let’s assume that doesn’t happen in this mock.

Instead, the Colts select Texas tackle Samuel Cosmi. At six foot seven, Cosmi has the profile for a left tackle in today’s NFL. For some reason, Cosmi is lost in the shuffle of the tackles in the 2021 NFL Draft, and he might have the best tools of any not named Sewell.

Cosmi has quick feet and is very athletic in space and working to the second level. His reps in pass protection were suspect in 2019, but 2020 looked much better for him, and he’s gotten to be more of a knee bender rather than a waist bender. Cosmi would come in and play right away for Indy.
