2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 14th overall

Pick Analysis. Michigan. 14. player. Scouting Report. EDGE. Kwity Paye. 60

Kwity Paye’s combination of size, strength and athleticism at the EDGE position is unrivaled in the 2021 NFL Draft class. Listed at 6-foot-4, 272 pounds, Paye is a bigger EDGE defender who can win with power as both a run defender and pass rusher. However, his ability to move the way he does at his size is undoubtedly special.

Paye is quick off of the ball and shows strong bend around the edge for such a big defensive end prospect. He uses his strong hands and impressive natural power to set a strong edge on a consistent basis but he also has the quickness needed to win knife through the offensive line and make plays in the backfield.

Paye also converts his speed to power incredibly well and shows the ability to create pressure in a variety of ways. His high motor playing style also stands out in a big way as Paye can chase down ball carriers down the field and make plays that he has no business making.

With his ability to win with both power and speed on the edge, Paye undoubtedly has an extremely high ceiling at the next level. Sticking his hand in the dirt and letting him attack in a Mike Zimmer defense with the Minnesota Vikings would make a ton of sense and give Paye a great opportunity to reach his high ceiling. Pairing Paye with Danielle Hunter at defensive end would give the Vikings arguably the best young edge-rushing duo in the entire NFL.
