Miami Dolphins 2021 mock draft: Round 3

HB. Chuba Hubbard. 82. player. 59. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Oklahoma State

Despite an impressive season by Myles Gaskin, the Miami Dolphins still lack a ballcarrier that can fully utilize the talents of their offensive line and provide a crucial ground element to Tagovailoa’s offense. In yet another deep running back class, the Miami Dolphins can find their solution in the 2021 NFL draft without expending one of their day one selection.

Chuba Hubbard has been far and away the most statistically impressive of the 2021 NFL draft running backs, rushing for 2,094 yards and 21 touchdowns on 328 carries. Hubbard is expected to run in the high 4.3’s at the NFL combine, drawing comparisons to Colt’s rookie standout Johnathan Taylor.

Used in the Miami Dolphins’ offense as a pure ballcarrier from single back and I-formations, Hubbard is a day one ground threat to take the pressure off of Tagovailoa.

Miami Dolphins 2021 NFL Draft: Round 4

College Statistics. Pick Analysis. Tedarrell Slaton. player. DT. Florida. 114. 59

Outside of flourishing first-rounder Christian Wilkins, the Miami Dolphins lack a true run-stopping force on the interior of their defensive line. The 2021 NFL draft does not offer the typical array of first-round talent at the position but does sport a deep roster of varying physical molds for the recently-evolving position.

At 358-pounds, Tedarrell Slaton is one of the most physically dominant nose tackles of the class with his raw strength and quick feet which help him slide from gap to gap. Slaton will be limited throughout his career as a three-down player purely based on his skill set and body type but will be an immediate interior force against the running game.

Round 6

player. College Statistics. WR. 183. 59. Pick Analysis. UNC. Dyami Brown

After selecting the top receiver of the 2021 NFL draft at number three overall, the Miami Dolphins come back to the well for another potential reliable receiver to pair with Tagovailoa. Although speedster Jakeem Grant and gadget-player Lynn Bowden Jr each fill their own role, neither would hold the label of ‘reliable.’

Dyami Brown was one part of an effective Carolina Tarheel’s offense led by 2022 quarterback prospect Sam Howell. In each of the last two seasons, Brown has totaled over 50 receptions and 1,000-yards as a conventional X-receiver.

At six-feet and projected to run a 4.5 forty, Brown is a qualified athlete who has honed in his route-running and release to make completions easier for his quarterback, making him a perfect compliment to Tagovailoa.
