Miami Dolphins 2021 mock draft: 2nd round

Scouting Report. 36. player. Pick Analysis. C. Oklahoma. Creed Humphrey. 59

With starting center Ted Karras potentially leaving the Miami Dolphins this offseason, there is a void of central leadership within the offensive line to designate protections for their signal-caller. Still learning the offense and acclimating to the NFL, Tagovailoa needs a high-IQ center to be able to take charge of the Dolphins offensive line.

The clear-cut number one center of the 2021 NFL draft, Creed Humphrey has started for the Sooner’s offensive line since 2018 and been a leader of one of the nation’s best offensive lines the past three years. With first-round tackle Austin Jackson looking to grow in his second campaign, Creed Humphrey is a day one leader who can coordinate protections for the Miami Dolphin’s offensive line.

EDGE. player. 59. Pick Analysis. Penn State. Jayson Oweh. 50. College Statistics

One of the greatest strengths of the Miami Dolphin’s defense was the stable of pass-rushers in their 3-4 front. From former New England recovery-project Kyle Van Noy to surprise fan-favorite Andrew Van Ginkel, Brian Flores has been able to rotate and utilize this variety of talent to create amoeba-fronts to confuse and pressure quarterbacks on every single snap. How can an offensive line identify their blocks without knowing where the pressure is coming from?

An edge prospect who is definitely on the rare side of cooked, Jayson Oweh is a physical specimen out of Penn State still learning the position. At six-foot-five, 254-pounds, Oweh has an NFL-ready frame and the physical might to compete with starting offensive tackles. He will need time to develop into a primary pass-rusher, as he is still developing his hand-usage and angles of attack, but can be an effective run-defender within his first year.
