Seattle Seahawks 2021 mock draft: Round 5, Pick 163

Iowa. Pick Analysis. OT. 5. player. 878. Scouting Report. Alaric Jackson

Every year we talk about the Seattle Seahawks looking for an answer at the tackle position, but it’s hard to find a strong tackle in the mid to late rounds. Instead, they’ll have to settle for a player with upside and stick with who they have. Duane Brown and Brandon Shell aren’t great, but they’ll have to do in the meantime.

What they can try to do now is draft a player like Alaric Jackson. Jackson was a highly touted prospect going into college and now exits a four-year starter at left tackle for Iowa. As a freshman, he was named to the Freshman All-Big Ten Team, which served as an indicator of things to come. As a sophomore, he made Second Team All-Big Ten and then Third Team All-Big Ten as a junior.

On top of All-Conference accolades, Jackson was also named to the Outland Trophy Watch List in his both junior and senior seasons. In both of those seasons, he was also a preseason All-American.

Offensive linemen are some of the harder players to analyze unless you can watch tape and breakdown each player. In the case of Jackson, his achievements are impressive enough that he could compete for a starting job in Seattle next year.
