Seattle Seahawks 2021 mock draft: Round 2, Pick 55

Hamilcar Rashed Jr.. player. EDGE. Oregon State. 2. 832. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Over the years the Seattle Seahawks have cycled through edge rushers and the next wave is about to arrive. The Seahawks pieced together a unit in 2020, but Bruce Irvin and Benson Mayowa are set to become free agents and Carlos Dunlap could become a cap causality with a price that will jump from $2 million on Seattle’s books to $14.1 million.

During the 2019 NFL Draft, the Seahawks selected L.J. Collier and here they get him a running mate on the other side in Hamilcar Rashed Jr. who had a down season in 2020. After a dominant 2019 season, Rashed looked like someone who could maybe enter the Top 10 conversation with a strong 2020 season. Instead, he regressed and could fall into the late second or even third round.

However, his showing in 2019 is enough to convince Seattle of his potential, but like we’ve seen from other players they’ve picked. Rashed’s 2019 season saw him register 22.5 tackles for loss as well as 14 sacks. Even the year before in 2018 he showed flashes with 12.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Should Rashed have strong numbers at the combine then there’s a chance that he won’t be on the board. However, in this case, he falls to the Seahawks and could fit perfectly into the needs of Seattle’s defense.
