Seattle Seahawks 7-round 2021 mock draft
The season came to an end for the Seattle Seahawks after a first-round exit in the playoffs. Now, they’ll turn their attention to the 2021 NFL Draft, a draft in which they only have four selections.
Since the arrival of Pete Carroll in Seattle, the Seahawks haven’t had the best luck in the early rounds, but they’ve landed top talent in the mid and late rounds.
The 2011 NFL Draft saw the Seahawks take K.J. Wright in the fourth round, Richard Sherman in the fifth, and Malcolm Smith in the seventh. The 2012 draft saw Bobby Wagner in the second and Russell Wilson in the third.
After a brief lull, the Seahawks struck gold again with Frank Clark in the second and Tyler Lockett in the third of the 2015 NFL Draft. Chris Carson came to Seattle during the seventh round of 2017 and then most recently it was D.K. Metcalf with the final pick of the second round in 2019.
With a track record like that in the mid-rounds, there’s no questioning why the Seahawks are comfortable without not only a first-round pick but only a total of four picks in the draft. Their first-round pick belongs to the New York Jets from the Jamal Adams trade, as does their third-round pick. They also sent their sixth-round pick to the Dolphins for Stephen Sullivan.
They also sent their seventh-rounder to the Cincinnati Bengals for Carlos Dunlap but acquired a seventh from the Detroit Lions for Quandre Diggs. Unfortunately, that pick will also belong to the New York Jets from the Parry Nickerson deal.
All those deals with leave the Seattle Seahawks with second, fourth, fifth, and sixth-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, which might be all they need to fill their gaps for the upcoming season reload for another playoff run.
