Jaguars 2021 mock draft: 2nd pick

After Trevor Lawrence is really where the ‘intrigue’ of the Jaguars’ 2021 NFL Draft class begins.

What area of need will they choose to attack next?

With so many needs across the roster on both sides of the ball, the Jaguars might just be able to stick with a ‘focused BPA’ philosophy here.

The Interior defensive line may not scream out as the Jaguars’ top need besides figuring out the quarterback position, but if a player like Christian Barmore is still on the board at pick no. 25 overall, he might fit the “BPA” category anyway.

Barmore was a player who had high expectations coming off of a very solid redshirt freshman season with the Crimson Tide defense. Though his numbers were modest, his hulking physical presence is obvious and the upside was apparent.

Barmore lived up to his billing in 2020 as one of the top defensive players in the SEC, being named defensive MVP of the national championship game and filling up the stat sheet as a sophomore.

He finished the year with 37 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacs, and three forced fumbles.

As the pre-draft process rolls along and more becomes known about Barmore as far as putting numbers to the physical and athletic talent that already shows up on tape, he could price himself well out of this range.
