Jaguars 2021 mock draft: Urban Meyer, Trevor Lawrence, and who else?
Jaguars 2021 mock draft: Who joins Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence?
If you’re a Jacksonville Jaguars fan, right now is a fairly exciting time.
The Jaguars earned the number one pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and that will almost assuredly be used on Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, one of the best prospects to come along at quarterback in recent years.
After earning the number one pick, the Jaguars got to re-shaping their front office and coaching staff, and it looks like they are going to be making one of the most high-profile hires of the 2021 offseason by bringing in former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer.
Meyer is obviously a highly respected football coach who has done an incredible job at pretty much every stop, but he has stepped down from his last two jobs (Florida, Ohio State) reportedly due to health reasons.
Hopefully, that will not be an issue going forward. For the time being, this is a very exciting move for the Jaguars on paper, and not only do the Jaguars have the top overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft but they have five picks in the top 100 overall and seven picks in the first four rounds.
Those are the picks we’re going to focus on in this updated Jaguars 2021 mock draft.
There is not really much more of a no-brainer than this. Lawrence has been a projected top NFL Draft pick since he came out of high school a few years back and he has lived up to lofty expectations, and then some.
Lawrence has the size, arm talent, athleticism, and work habits to be a successful NFL quarterback immediately.
Even with the Jaguars’ roster needing plenty of work, this is a team that has weapons offensively that Lawrence should be excited about. DJ Chark has been a Pro Bowl receiver already and 2020 rookie Laviska Shenault actually ended up leading the team with 58 receptions.
With Chark, Shenault, 2020 undrafted star James Robinson at running back, and plenty of other intriguing young players on this roster, Lawrence should be able to find early success and help get the Jaguars into relevance in the wide open AFC South.
