Baron Browning

It’s always tougher to get attention when you don’t get as much playing time. Ohio State has a rich linebacker room, led by Tuf Borland. Pete Werner also gets a ton of reps as the WILL, and his stock has been trending upward since the start of the 2020 season. The two who don’t get as many snaps, Baron Browning and Justin Hilliard, are also fun to watch. Browning had another impressive game for the Buckeyes and should get more notice going forward in draft circles.

While questions as to playing time and production could be relevant (29 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack), there’s no doubting the athleticism Browning brings to the table. His range from sideline to sideline and closing speed are impressive, and his use as a blitzer is evidence of that. He’s a reliable tackler and that closing speed and natural movement skills are evident in coverage. The work Browning can do in space is important, and it would have been extremely fun to see more of that.

Where teams will see his best position will be intriguing, but the tools are evident. Even if he’s selected later on day two, his play was evident of one that should be rising up boards.
