Scouting Report. Kansas City Chiefs. Eric Bieniemy. 5. player. Pick Analysis. Offensive Coordinator. 54

After just firing Doug Pederson, the Philadelphia Eagles are a little late to the NFL head coach vacancy party. So they may be behind the eight ball a little bit. Combine their tardiness with the lack of cap space and player frustration and Philly may not be in a very good place this offseason.

If the Eagles are able to land a prospect like Eric Bieniemy at this juncture, I think they should be happy. Andy Reid has given Bieniemy a ton of credit for the offensive success in Kansas City and many think that it is a year overdue for Bieniemy to be given a head coaching opportunity.

It seems as though every team that has a vacancy is interviewing Bieniemy, but yet he is not emerging as a true top candidate for any particular team. Some say that he is interviewing poorly. Some believe he has been being used to fulfill the NFL’s “Rooney Rule” requirement. Nonetheless, The Eagles organization is familiar with Bieniemy and the Andy Reid coaching tree, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up back in Philadelphia as the head coach.

Give him a couple of viable quarterback options, a dynamic young running back in Miles Sanders and a versatile receiving corps (possibly including someone with the sixth pick of the 2021 NFL Draft) and let Eric Bieniemy go to work to turn the Eagles offense around from the disappointment that they were a year ago.

My pick: Lincoln Riley, Head Coach, Oklahoma Sooners

This is likely just a pipe dream, but man would it be cool if the Philadelphia Eagles could lure Lincoln Riley out of Norman and into the NFL. Not only has Riley been one of the hot, young names for NFL head coach vacancies for a few years now, but he also has experience coaching the Eagles’ new quarterback.

Jalen Hurts (like many others) thrived in Riley’s offense. Oklahoma just puts on an offensive clinic every time they step on the field, and that is something that the Eagles desperately need to find after this past season. While Riley seems content at Oklahoma, the rumors are already swirling that Howie Roseman and the Eagles have reached out to gauge his interest in their head coaching spot. If the interest is there, give him a blank check and bring him to Philly.
