The Green Bay Packers earned a bye in part due to the success of their 2019 NFL Draft class.

The Green Bay Packers had an excellent 2020 regular season and secured a first-round bye with their win over the Chicago Bears. Aaron Rodgers should win the MVP, Davante Adams is breaking Sterling Sharpe’s records, and the defense is getting more opportunistic down the stretch.

The best part about this Green Bay team is that they are getting help from the young talent. Their 2019 NFL Draft class is improving in its second season and has played a part in their 13-3 record. Let’s look at everyone that has contributed this season and look at their play.

Elgton Jenkins

Let’s start with Elgton Jenkins, who has easily been the Packers’ best pick from the class so far. Jenkins played at an All-Pro level as a rookie, proving to be one of the best pass protectors in the league at guard, allowing zero sacks on 571 pass pro snaps during the regular season.

His technique was phenomenal as a rookie and it has continued into his second season. His power and balance have been terrific as usual, and he’s looked better as a run blocker. Once again, Jenkins has only allowed one sack in 2020.

Jenkins’ biggest asset is his versatility. He’s taken snaps at every position on the offensive line in his first two seasons. He’s filled in at right tackle when needed, and his good footwork and technique have led to his effectiveness at the position. Jenkins has also filled in at center when Corey Linsley was hurt. That versatility doesn’t go unnoticed and makes him one of the most valuable players on the roster.

So far, Jenkins is the biggest hit in the class and could find himself with the Green Bay Packers for a long, long time. His versatility could be called upon in the postseason.
