2021 NFL Draft: Alabama, Ohio State load up two-round mock draft
2021 NFL Draft 1st round: 31st pick
In just about every 2021 mock draft scenario I have put together dating back to the Summer of 2020, the Green Bay Packers have used their top pick on the wide receiver position.
That remains a very real possibility for them but there is also a chance the Packers could look at the defensive side of the ball where they didn’t exactly have the easiest job creating turnovers.
As a matter of fact, the Packers ranked 25th in the NFL in turnovers forced in 2020 and a small fraction of the turnovers they did force came from the cornerback position.
Needless to say, the Packers could use some ball-hawks in the secondary, and Clemson’s Derion Kendrick is a fun option here late in the first round.
Some like Kendrick’s ability to translate to the NFL more than others, but there’s no question he’s got the talent and ball skills when his technique is on point.
Kendrick is a converted receiver who has taken well to the position, though he had a poor outing against Ohio State in the college football playoff.
There’s a chance Kendrick could return for another season at Clemson to maybe get up to CB1 status in 2021, but there’s enough hype about him out there that he would likely have to turn down a first-round distinction to go back to Clemson for another year.
