2021 NFL Draft 1st round: 17th pick

Notre Dame. 17. player. 28. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

The Las Vegas Raiders will no doubt have to focus on the defensive side of the ball in the 2021 offseason.

Not only did the Raiders miss the playoffs in 2020, but they likely missed the playoffs primarily because of the poor performance of the defense down the stretch.

The Raiders lost five of their last seven games to close out the 2020 season after it really looked like they were going to be a strong Wild Card option after beating the mighty Kansas City Chiefs.

In 2021, it will be back to the drawing board on defense for Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden, who would probably love to add a versatile weapon like Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah to the mix.

There are few linebackers in college football who have been as impactful on all three downs as Owusu-Koramoah in the 2020 season.

In addition to being able to be a WILL linebacker in a team’s base defense, Owusu-Koramoah has the range, athleticism, and pure speed to play in the nickel or as a box safety when called upon.

With the way the league is set up right now, having the players who can at least help limit the amount of damage super-athletic tight ends are capable of doing is a great luxury to have.

Not only can Owusu-Koramoah do that, but he can blitz and make plays as a pass rusher.

He’s got such a fun skill set and the Raiders would be able to add him to their linebacker group that also includes 2020 free agent pickups Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski.
